‘Gethsemane’ means ‘olive press’. It speaks perhaps more vividly than any other place of the weight of suffering the Lord was to endure. He was crushed in a press of grief and sadness as he anticipated not only the pain of crucifixion the next day, but also the greater suffering of separation from his Father.
